The Coalition for Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has urged political parties to have confidence in the Electoral Commission’s (EC) capacity to conduct impartial and transparent elections.
Albert Arhin, CODEO’s National Coordinator, stated that the EC is an impartial body tasked with ensuring election transparency.
He warned that if political parties believe the EC is biased, it could lead to unnecessary disputes.
In a recent interview, Mr Arhin emphasized, “We need to trust the commission. If there’s a constant suspicion of dishonesty, every action of the EC will be questioned. We should respect their role.”
He encouraged parties to raise concerns with the EC directly if issues arise, rather than speculating. Arhin expressed confidence in the EC’s commitment to a fair election, noting that the commission has consistently involved stakeholders in various processes, which he believes will continue through the December elections.
“I am confident the EC will conduct a fair election. Their track record shows that they engage stakeholders throughout every stage of their processes, ensuring transparency and accountability,” he said.
