- Pro-NDC group demands President Akufo-Addo condemn NPP's violent incidents.
The Professional Forum, a pro-NDC group, has strongly condemned the NPP’s attempts to distort the NDC’s stance on the Peace Council’s request to sign a Peace Pact. The NDC Chairman, Asiedu Nketia, had stated that the party would not sign any peace pact, citing the ineffectiveness of previous pacts.
In response, the NPP urged the NDC to reconsider their decision, claiming it would fuel tensions in the political atmosphere. However, the Professional Forum has accused the NPP of hypocrisy and dishonesty, stating that the NDC has always been committed to peaceful elections.
The group emphasized that the NDC has demonstrated its commitment to peace through actions, not just words. The NDC Professionals Forum also highlighted the NPP’s history of violence and intimidation, citing incidents such as the military invasion of Parliament and the murder of innocent individuals during the 2020 elections.
The group demanded that President Akufo-Addo openly condemn these incidents and take concrete steps to address them. The Professional Forum stated that the NDC may be willing to sign a genuine and meaningful Peace Pact, but would not be bullied or coerced into doing so.
The group called for a genuine commitment to peace and transparency from the NPP, and expected them to take concrete steps to address their own history of violence and intimidation. The Professional Forum concluded by stating that Ghanaians deserve better than the NPP’s cynical gamesmanship and that they would continue to fight for a genuine commitment to peace and democracy.
