President Akufo-Addo is set to introduce new strategies to alleviate the impact of the severe drought currently plaguing northern Ghana.
The persistent dry season has caused significant agricultural losses, devastating crops and reducing farm productivity in these regions.
Recent reports highlight the urgent struggles faced by farmers, as the ongoing drought has severely disrupted their agricultural operations.
During his visit to inaugurate the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 15, President Akufo-Addo addressed the crisis, promising forthcoming government measures to support affected farmers.
“As I am here in the region, it is crucial that I address an issue of great concern for the people of northern Ghana,” he stated. “I recognize the severe effects of the drought on agricultural production and assure you that the Government will soon announce actions to remedy the situation.”
Previously, the NPP government initiated the ‘One Village, One Dam’ project to build dams in northern Ghana, intended to aid farming during dry spells. Nevertheless, the current drought has compromised the effectiveness of these dams, exacerbating the destruction of agricultural yields.
