Kalvin Phillips Set for Ipswich Loan

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is poised to join newly promoted Ipswich Town on loan for the upcoming season.

The 28-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the City starting XI since his £45 million move from Leeds United two years ago.

Phillips spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United in an attempt to boost his chances of making the England squad for Euro 2024.

However, a combination of injuries and inconsistent form limited his opportunities.

Despite Pep Guardiola’s public praise for Phillips during City’s preseason tour of the United States, he was an unused substitute in Saturday’s Community Shield victory over Manchester United.

With Rodri sidelined, the decision to leave Phillips on the bench highlighted his current standing in the squad.

Several clubs, including Fulham, were reportedly interested in signing Phillips on a permanent or loan deal.

However, Ipswich appear to have won the race for his signature, with the move expected to be finalized by Friday morning.
