- Ablakwa recalls that a prior minister had promised to compile a list of public lands
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu, has called on Samuel A. Jinapor, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, to swiftly release a comprehensive list of all public lands.
Ablakwa’s demand follows Jinapor’s press conference on August 14, where the Minister refuted claims that the government is involved in leasing public lands to its associates. Jinapor also challenged critics to provide proof of such allegations.
In response, Ablakwa has criticized the government, suggesting that it is unlawfully leasing state lands to favored individuals.
He expressed frustration, stating, “This situation is absurd. We need to revisit the fundamentals. The previous minister mentioned that the president requested a comprehensive list, but it has yet to be provided. It’s embarrassing for our country.”
Ablakwa highlighted concerns raised by the Lands Commission about public lands being misappropriated as private property. He emphasized the need for transparency, urging, “We need to get back to the basics. Publish the list and compile the necessary information.”
