Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has urged the residents of the Upper East Region to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, in the upcoming elections.

Dr. Adam noted that the Upper East Region has historically supported the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and called on voters to back Dr. Bawumia in the December 7 elections.

He emphasized that this support is crucial for the continuation of the NPP’s social intervention programs.

“Upper East must make a change this time. You should vote for someone who will bring you development,” Dr. Adam said while addressing the people of Binduri Constituency during a campaign tour with Dr. Bawumia.

The Upper East Region has predominantly favored the NDC in past elections, with the NPP securing only one parliamentary seat, Binduri, out of the 15 seats in the region during the 2020 elections.

Dr. Bawumia’s four-day campaign tour of the region included support from prominent figures such as Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul, former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, and Regional Minister Alhaji Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih.

Dr. Adam, also the MP for Karaga, highlighted the shift in voting patterns in the Northern Region towards the NPP and encouraged the Upper East to follow suit. “The Upper East should also change its pattern to show the NDC that we want Dr. Bawumia to advance our region and improve its status as one of the most deprived in Ghana,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia addressed the enthusiastic crowd, noting that, as two northerners have already served as President, it is now his turn to lead.

Abdulai Abanga, MP for Binduri, highlighted the development initiatives by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration and appealed to his constituents to re-elect him to continue advocating for their needs.
