Story Highlights
  • Fifi Kwetey accused the NPP of bribing NDC agents
  • Asiedu Nketiah, criticized Samuel Ofosu Ampofo for the failure in result collation
  • Fifi Kwetey stresses the need for party members to prioritize national interests over personal gain

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has attributed their inability to collate election results in the 2016 and 2020 general elections to alleged bribery by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Fifi Kwetey, the party’s General Secretary, voiced his concerns during a radio interview in Tamale ahead of the NDC’s campaign launch.

He lamented that many of their agents were compromised by the NPP, preventing the NDC from effectively gathering and compiling electoral data.

Meanwhile, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, campaigning for the NDC chairmanship, placed blame on former party Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo for the failure in result collation.

Asiedua Nketiah criticized the software used, claiming it malfunctioned after processing data from a few constituencies, leaving the party unable to provide accurate figures for court proceedings.

Fifi Kwetey further elaborated on the challenges faced, alleging that individuals presumed to be loyal NDC members were actually affiliated with the NPP, masquerading as supporters to influence outcomes in favor of the ruling party. He emphasized the need for rigorous vetting to ensure party loyalty and commitment to national interests among their agents.

Highlighting the broader implications, Fifi Kwetey criticized what he described as a decline in the country’s moral standards under successive NPP administrations, contrasting this with the era of former President Rawlings.

He stressed the urgency of restoring integrity and commitment to national service among party members and agents to safeguard democratic processes in future elections.
