Chelsea Boss Defiant After Defensive Errors

- Chelsea will look to improve defensively
New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admitted his side will concede goals this season as they adapt to his possession-based style of play.
The Italian’s debut ended in a 2-2 draw with League One side Wrexham, with two defensive errors leading to goals for the Welsh club.
Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring for Chelsea before half-time, but Wrexham responded with two quick goals after the break. Lesley Ugochukwu salvaged a point for the Blues with a late equalizer.
Maresca defended his tactics, stating, “We’re going to concede goals this season playing out from the back. It’s one of the risks you take.” However, he insisted he would not deviate from his philosophy, adding, “I have no doubt we’ll score more than we concede.”
Wrexham, owned by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, have enjoyed a successful pre-season tour, drawing with Bournemouth last week.
Chelsea will look to improve defensively as they continue their preparations for the new season.
