The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) recently inducted 152 new engineers at a ceremony held at the Engineering Centre in Accra. This group includes 146 new inductees and six who missed the previous ceremony.

Engineering Ethics and Professionalism Emphasized:

The President-Elect of GhIE, Ing. Ludwig Annan Hesse, administered the Engineering Oath and instilled the importance of ethical conduct in the inductees.

He stressed against self-promotion, urging the engineers to prioritize integrity, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability in all their projects. Maintaining active membership in GhIE was also highlighted as crucial for license renewal through the Engineering Council.

Focus on Expanding Membership:

The Chairman of the GhIE Membership Committee, Ing. Dr. Patrick Amoah Bekoe, addressed the need for a more balanced membership across different engineering disciplines. While the recent years have seen a rise in Engineering Craftsmen, the intake of Professional Engineering Technologists and Engineering Technicians has lagged. The committee is implementing outreach programs to attract more qualified professionals from these under-represented groups.

Maintaining Professional Growth:

The Immediate Past President of GhIE, Ing. Rev. Prof. Charles Anum Adams, offered valuable advice to the inductees. He emphasized the importance of upholding integrity and honesty while continuously upgrading their skills through professional development programs provided by the institution.

A Well-Attended Ceremony:

The event witnessed participation from the GhIE Executive Director, Ing. David Kwatia Nyante, Council Members, past presidents, distinguished guests, and families of the inductees.
