Fredrick Boakye’s ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest individual dancing marathon came to an end after an impressive 131 hours of non-stop dancing.

The dance-a-thon, which kicked off on July 11 at the Kwahu-Obomeng Social Center, was initially scheduled to run until July 18, 2024. However, Fredrick cited exhaustion as the reason for ending the marathon prematurely, falling 37 hours short of his 168-hour goal.

Despite not reaching his intended target, Fredrick’s 131-hour performance surpasses the current record held by Srushti Sudhir, who danced for 127 hours in India. Fredrick’s aim was to dance continuously to indigenous traditional music for an entire week, celebrating Ghana’s rich culture and showcasing his passion for dance.

The attempt has been met with widespread admiration and support from well-wishers who flocked to the venue to cheer him on. Though Fredrick may not have achieved his ultimate goal, his remarkable achievement is a testament to his determination and dedication to his craft.
