Public Procurement Authority Cracks Down On Fake Certificates
- PPA takes tough stance against fake certificates
- Individuals using fake certificates will be barred
- They also warn individuals misusing the PPA's name
The Public Procurement Authority (PPA) is taking a tough stance against fake certificates used by suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
In a recent public notice, the PPA outlined these key measures:
Stronger Penalties: Individuals caught using fake certificates will be barred from participating in public procurement for up to three years and could face criminal prosecution.
Beware of Scams: The PPA warned the public against unauthorized individuals posing as PPA staff or agents who offer fake certificates or promise easy contracts.
Expired Certificates to be Disposed: All supplier certificates issued between 2020 and 2023 that remain uncollected by Wednesday, July 31, 2024 will be discarded.
Important Information for Registered Suppliers:
Collect Your Certificates: If you've successfully registered on the Suppliers Registration Portal but haven't received your certificate, collect it by July 31st from PPA offices in Accra, Kumasi, or Takoradi.
New Collection Policy: Going forward, all registered entities must collect their certificates within 20 working days of successful registration or renewal.
The PPA emphasizes that they will not be liable for losses incurred from dealing with unauthorized persons. They also warn individuals misusing the PPA’s name and image for fraudulent activities to stop or face legal consequences.
This crackdown aims to ensure a level playing field and transparency in Ghana’s public procurement processes.
