Four Pakistani citizens were killed and at least 30 others injured in a shooting attack at a Shia mosque in Muscat, Oman.
The attack, condemned by Pakistan’s foreign ministry as “dastardly terrorism,” targeted the Imam Ali Mosque on the eve of Ashura, a holy day for Shia Muslims.
While details remain unclear, authorities confirmed they “neutralized” the attackers. A disturbing video from inside the mosque captured the chaos as worshippers fled for cover during the gunfire.
Pakistan’s ambassador to Oman reported visiting injured victims and advised Pakistani residents to avoid the area. Reports suggest the attack may have involved a hostage situation with women and children, thankfully later resolved by police.
This act of violence is a shock to Oman, known for its stability in the region. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
