Kwame Owusu Fordjour, popularly known as Dr. UN, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Chef Smith’s cook-a-thon attempt. In an interview on Onua FM on July 10, 2024, Dr. UN stated that Chef Smith erred by not seeking his advice before attempting the record.
Dr. UN claimed he was unaware of the issue until he was tagged in social media discussions. He advised Chef Smith to organize the cook-a-thon independently, creating a personal brand that could lead to long-term success and potentially become an annual event.
“I think Chef Smith should have consulted me before attempting his cook-a-thon,” Dr. UN said. “I would tell him to do the cook-a-thon on his own, without going under the flag of Guinness. He could have branded his cook-a-thon to be even bigger than the Guinness World Record brand.”
Dr. UN also offered to give Chef Smith a positive citation to enhance his reputation, accompanied by a presentation from a High Commissioner to add credibility.
This comes after Chef Smith held a press conference earlier this week, claiming to be the current record holder for the Longest Cooking Marathon, displaying a fraudulent certificate from Guinness World Records.
