Ghana Celebrates Horticultural Diversity At First-Ever Expo
- The Expo is a major milestone
- USAID is proud to be a partner
- The expo aims to spark collaboration
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is proud to support the first-ever Ghana Horticultural Expo! This three-day event, running from July 9th to 11th at the Accra International Conference Centre, is a major milestone for Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Boosting Collaboration and Innovation
“Our goal,” said USAID Ghana Economic Growth Office Director Andrew Read, “is to bring together all the key players – farmers, exporters, government agencies, businesses, and more.” The expo aims to spark collaboration across the industry, with workshops, panel discussions, and demonstrations showcasing the latest trends and technologies. This exchange of knowledge will empower Ghanaian businesses to become leaders in horticulture.
Celebrating Quality and Export Potential
Themed “Celebrating Ghana’s Horticultural Diversity; Produce Quality, Export More,” the expo highlights the vast potential of Ghanaian horticulture. By connecting farmers directly with exporters and financial institutions, the event aims to increase exports and economic growth.
A Focus on Healthy Communities
“Improved horticulture means more fruits and vegetables for everyone,” Read added. Increased access to fresh produce will contribute to healthier diets and communities throughout Ghana.
USAID: A Long-Standing Partner
USAID’s support for the expo reflects the United States’ commitment to Ghana’s development. As Ghana’s largest bilateral development partner, USAID provided over $140 million in assistance in 2023 alone, supporting agriculture, economic growth, health, education, and good governance.
This first-ever Ghana Horticultural Expo is a testament to Ghana’s vibrant agricultural sector and its bright future. USAID is proud to be a partner in this exciting journey.
