The National Service Authority Bill 2024 has been passed by Parliament, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to promote national development and employability among the youth. The bill aims to establish the National Service Authority as a corporate body with the legal capacity to develop and implement policies and programmes for national service.

The authority will mobilize and post qualified individuals to undertake national service in areas of national priority, such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Osei Assibey Antwi, expressed his delight with the passage of the bill, highlighting its potential benefits for the youth.

Assibey Antwi noted that the bill’s passage will enable the authority to generate funds internally to complement government efforts in creating employment opportunities for the youth. The authority will now have the autonomy to enhance entrepreneurship and reduce the burden on the central government, he added.
