The Pakyi District Court has granted a GH¢30,000 bail with surety to Emmanuel Sebeh, a 32-year-old mason accused of stealing 222 bags of cement valued at GH¢17,516 from a trader. The surety must produce a valid national identity card to the court’s registry.

Sebeh pleaded not guilty to the charge and was represented in court by Police Chief Inspector Christian Amartey. The complainant, Gifty Afriyie, is a trader who owns a cement shop located at Paa, where Sebeh was employed as a salesboy in December 2023.

According to Chief Inspector Amartey, Sebeh was entrusted with 300 bags of cement to sell at GH¢78 each, with a monthly pay agreement. However, when Afriyie took stock of the shop on April 8, 2024, she discovered that all 300 bags were missing. Sebeh claimed that construction workers had taken the cement on credit, but he could not account for 222 bags valued at GH¢17,516.

Afriyie reported the incident to the Trede Police, leading to Sebeh’s arrest. In his cautioned statement, Sebeh admitted to the offence and was subsequently charged and brought to court.

The case will continue on a later date, with the court awaiting further developments.
