Mel B to Receive Honorary Doctorate for Charity Work
Leeds Beckett University has announced that Mel B, the Spice Girls icon, will be awarded an honorary doctorate for her tireless charity work supporting survivors of domestic abuse. The singer will receive the prestigious honor at a ceremony next month.
Mel B, who has become a prominent campaigner for domestic abuse victims, expressed her gratitude, calling the doctorate “an incredible honour.” The singer has been studying at the university, completing a course in trauma-informed care, and praised the institution for its support.
“I am proud to feel part of this university in my home town and proud to have come here as Melanie Brown, proud to have worked alongside other students and received excellent guidance from the teaching staff,” she said.
Professor Peter Slee, Vice Chancellor of Leeds Beckett University, congratulated Mel B on her achievement, highlighting her advocacy work and dedication to helping others. “Melanie is exactly the type of citizen we are here to champion,” he said.
