“I’m Off This” – Davido Drops Custody Battle Over Imade
- Davido drops custody battle over daughter Imade due to Sophia Momodu's "unfair" claims
- Sophia referenced Davido's late son, Ifeanyi, to argue against him gaining custody
- Davido expresses frustration and sadness, feeling blamed and misunderstood
Renowned musician Davido has decided to withdraw his motion for joint custody or unfettered access to his daughter, Imade, in an ongoing custody battle with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu.
Davido’s lawyers had filed the motion on April 17, but the singer has now chosen to pursue the case no further. This decision comes after Sophia Momodu referenced the death of Davido’s late son, Ifeanyi, in her argument, suggesting that Davido’s home may not be a safe environment for their daughter.
Sophia’s suit stated, “The Applicant is married to another woman, and they live together. The proper upbringing of our daughter by another cannot be guaranteed. The fact that the Applicant lost his son in his house in rather unfortunate and questionable circumstances shows that our daughter cannot be placed in the custody of the Applicant.”
Davido responded on social media, expressing frustration and sadness over Sophia’s remarks. He felt it was unfair to blame him for his son’s death and questioned why requesting joint custody was met with such resistance. “All I asked for was ‘joint custody’ but cus it’s davido yall wanna act like yall can’t read! SMH I’m off this … yall be blessed and I pray this never happens to you.”
In a seemingly emotional conclusion, Davido stated, “If keeping my daughter is what makes Sophia happy, then so be it.”
