French full-back Melvyn Jaminet has been suspended from the national team following a social media post containing a racist remark.

Jaminet, who featured as a substitute in France’s win over Argentina, uploaded the video to his Instagram account. Despite deleting it, the content has been widely shared online.

The French Rugby Federation (FFR) strongly condemned Jaminet’s comments, calling them “unacceptable” and a violation of the sport’s core values.

The statement confirmed his removal from the Argentina tour and the launch of an internal investigation into the matter. The FFR vowed to take “appropriate measures” based on the investigation’s findings.

Jaminet, who plays for Toulon domestically, participated in the 28-13 victory against Argentina, scoring a penalty after coming on as a substitute in the 72nd minute. Toulon has also condemned Jaminet’s actions and distanced themselves from the comments. They have initiated their own internal investigation.

Jaminet has expressed deep remorse and shame for his remarks. In an Instagram post, he reiterated his opposition to racism and his acceptance of the FFR’s punishment. He claims his willingness to cooperate with the investigation to shed light on the incident.
