Bayern Munich bolstered their attack by signing winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace for a reported 60 million euros (£50 million).

The 22-year-old Frenchman, who previously played for England at the youth level, made 90 appearances for Palace across three seasons. Olise signed a five-year deal after joining the Eagles from Reading for £8 million in 2021.

Despite interest from Chelsea and Newcastle, Olise opted for a move to Germany where he will reunite with Bayern’s new manager Vincent Kompany.

“I’m thrilled to be playing for such a prestigious club,” Olise said. “This is a great challenge, exactly what I was looking for. I’m eager to prove myself and contribute to winning titles in the coming years.”

Olise scored 10 goals in 19 Premier League appearances last season as Palace finished 10th. He’s also been selected for the French Olympic squad competing in Paris later this month.

“We’re incredibly proud of Michael’s achievements at Crystal Palace,” said Eagles chairman Steve Parish. “He developed significantly as a player here, and we respect his desire to take on a new challenge at the highest level.”

In addition to Olise, Bayern are nearing the completion of a deal for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha for £42 million with potential add-ons. The 28-year-old Portuguese midfielder was close to joining Bayern last summer but the deal fell through on deadline day.

England defender Eric Dier also made his loan move from Tottenham Hotspur permanent. Bayern will look to reclaim the Bundesliga title after Bayer Leverkusen ended their 11-year reign last season.
