Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara has distanced his team from following rivals Asante Kotoko’s strategy of a mass player exodus.
This comes after Kotoko parted ways with a staggering 21 players following a disappointing season, with plans to bring in 14 new faces. Hearts themselves had a difficult campaign, narrowly avoiding relegation.
However, Ouattara firmly believes a complete overhaul is not the answer. “What’s the point of letting go of a hundred players and bringing in two hundred?” he questioned in a SportsObama TV interview.
“We need a measured approach,” Ouattara continued. “A gradual rebuild gives us a better chance of success. Firing everyone and starting fresh is simply a waste of resources.”
Despite their stance, Hearts are reportedly interested in bolstering their squad with former Kotoko midfielder Enoch Morrison and ex-Bechem United forward Augustine Okrah.
It will be interesting to see how these contrasting approaches from the Ghanaian giants play out in the upcoming season.
