The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested two passengers, Aikhomoun Daniel (alias Oladapo Olanrewaju) and Ayigoro Waheed Omobolaji, at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, on Friday, June 21. The suspects, traveling to Doha on a Qatar Airways flight, tested positive for ingested illicit substances during screening at Terminal 2.
According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, the suspects were taken into custody and subjected to further examination. “Daniel excreted 90 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.022kg in six excretions, while Ayigoro discharged 60 wraps of the same substance weighing 662grams in five excretions,” Babafemi revealed.
Investigations showed that Daniel had stolen his late uncle’s identity to obtain a Schengen visa for easy access to Europe. “His real name is Oladapo Olanrewaju,” Babafemi disclosed.
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted 6,125 cartons of codeine syrup containing 1,050,000 bottles worth over N7.35 billion at the Port Harcourt Ports complex, Onne, Rivers State.
