Appiah-Kubi Urges Bawumia to Disregard Campaigning Candidates for Running Mate
- Appiah-Kubi stressed the importance of adhering to constitutional requirements
- He advised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to reject nominations from individuals
- Appiah-Kubi criticized the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) of the National Security Council
Andy Appiah-Kubi, the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has advised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to reject all candidates who are actively campaigning to be his running mate.
Speaking to reporters, Appiah-Kubi emphasized the importance of adhering to constitutional guidelines in the selection process.
“In the current season, I’ve noticed several names being circulated, but it’s crucial to remember that campaigning for a running mate is not in line with constitutional requirements,” Appiah-Kubi stated.
“Those engaging in such campaigns are wasting their time. If I were in Bawumia’s position, I would decline nominations from these individuals who are seeking recognition through unconstitutional means.”
He further criticized the National Intelligence Bureau of the National Security Council for conducting what he deemed an unnecessary survey that favored Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the top choice for the running mate position within the NPP.
“I believe the NIB should focus on more pressing matters than this particular survey, which I find superfluous. As a presidential candidate, I would disregard any pressure to adhere to their favored candidate,” he asserted.
