MTN Ghana has begun a significant country-wide network upgrade to improve customer experience and reduce their environmental impact.
This project involves replacing existing mobile network infrastructure with more efficient and eco-friendly equipment, aiming for completion by August 2024.
Enhanced Network, Reduced Footprint
MTN Ghana’s Chief Technical Officer, Thomas Motlepa, highlighted the importance of a modern network for the company’s evolving role as a platform provider.
He assured customers that the upgrade will deliver a more reliable and robust service.
“The plan includes replacing older equipment with modern, lighter, and more energy-efficient technology, which will also streamline our towers,” explained Mr. Motlepa.

While significant network disruptions are not anticipated, MTN acknowledges that, as with any technological upgrade, there’s a possibility of temporary service interruptions.
