The Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has strongly refuted accusations leveled against his group by the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, regarding the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy. Dr. Forson emphasized that the Minority Group has never expressed opposition to the flagship program, contrary to claims made by the Majority Leader.
He explained that the Minority Group has always been committed to supporting policies that benefit the Ghanaian people, including the Free SHS policy. Dr. Forson pointed out that it is actually Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who has publicly expressed his opposition to legislation regulating the Free SHS policy.
He quoted Dr. Bawumia as saying that a law is not necessary to regulate the Free SHS policy, emphasizing that all that is needed is commitment. Dr. Forson made these remarks while addressing journalists in Parliament on June 26, 2024, in response to the Majority Leader’s accusations.
