Traditional Leaders In Wassa Grumisa Invokes Curses On Grave Desecrators
- Wassa Grumisa chiefs and elders invoke curses on grave desecrators
- Over 10 graves exhumed in two weeks, causing community outrage
- Traditional leaders seek justice through curses on perpetrators
The chiefs and elders of Wassa Grumisa in the Wassa-Amenfi East district of the Western Region have invoked curses on individuals responsible for the exhumation of corpses in the community’s cemetery. This move comes after over 10 graves were desecrated in the past two weeks, causing distress among residents.
Despite repeated appeals to desist from these illegal activities, the exhumations have continued, prompting traditional leaders to take drastic action. The chiefs and elders, describing the situation as “embarrassing and deeply troubling”, have called upon their gods to intervene.
“We are embarrassed and troubled by this development. We have never seen anything like this in our community before”, they said. “We are calling upon our gods to identify and punish those responsible. We don’t want them to die, but we want them to suffer and fail in whatever they intend to use the bodies for”.
The invocation of curses is seen as a last resort by the traditional leaders, who believe that the perpetrators must be held accountable for their actions. The community is united in its condemnation of the grave desecration and is seeking justice through traditional means.
