- Government commissions modern 10-storey office complex
- The Law House replaces makeshift offices, enhances justice delivery
- Attorney General pledges to upgrade regional offices, improve efficiency
The government has officially inaugurated The Law House, a ten-storey edifice, as the new office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice. The building, located adjacent to the High Court complex, was commissioned on Monday, June 10, 2024.
The Law House project, which commenced in 2001, underwent a revamp after its initial termination and was re-awarded in January 2023. The modernized structure boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including conference rooms, 130 office spaces, 120 parking lots, and a dining area.
Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame pledged to ensure that all regional offices of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice are housed in at least three-storey buildings, putting an end to the practice of operating from makeshift structures. “The days where state Attorneys in various regions operate from makeshift structures or within the office complexes of other state institutions must be a thing of the past,” he emphasized.
Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, while acknowledging the significance of building courts, stressed the need for dedicated resources towards legal education reforms and other projects to enhance justice delivery.
