NPP Accuses NDC of Orchestrating BVR Theft to Discredit Them
- NDC exposed in a plot to implicate the NPP
- NDC planned to plant stolen devices
- EC reported the theft of five laptops, part of the BVR kits
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been exposed in a plot to implicate the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the theft of Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits and Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs).
According to Henry Nana Boakye, NPP’s National Organizer, credible sources reveal that the NDC planned to plant stolen devices, including laptops, at NPP offices nationwide and stage a media expose to falsely implicate the NPP.
Furthermore, Nana B alleged that some NDC members had prior knowledge of the theft and intended to steal components from 25 additional BVRs, which could be assembled for voter registration.
This revelation comes after the Electoral Commission (EC) reported the theft of five laptops, part of the BVR kits, in April. The NDC had claimed that seven biometric devices were missing, sparking concerns about the upcoming December election.
The EC clarified that only laptops were stolen, which cannot be used for voter registration or verification.
Despite this, the NDC continues to demand an investigation into the EC’s handling of the BVR kits. Nana B warns that the NDC’s insistence on this issue is part of a larger scheme to hide the stolen kits in NPP offices and accuse the EC of colluding with the NPP to rig the 2024 general elections.
This plot bears resemblance to the 2008 incident where NDC members snatched ballot boxes and planted one at an NPP executive’s residence, falsely accusing them of electoral malfeasance. Nana B urges all NPP executives and stakeholders to remain vigilant and thwart potential NDC intrusions at party offices.”
