Senior High School (SHS) students aged 18 and above have issued an ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC), threatening to return to school if they are not registered to vote. The EC’s ongoing registration exercise, which began on May 7 and is scheduled to end on May 27, has been plagued by network challenges, leaving many students unable to register despite being granted four days’ permission by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

In an interview with Adom News, some of the affected students expressed their frustration, stating that they may be forced to boycott the exercise if the issues are not resolved. “We will have no option but to return to school if the network challenges are not fixed,” they warned.

The students are appealing to the EC to address the technical issues promptly, while the NPP Chairman of the Nkawkaw constituency, Stephen Abuaku, acknowledged the challenges but noted that the registration process is proceeding smoothly overall. He also urged the GES to consider extending the four-day period granted to the students.
