“I Will Not Protect Your Legacy of Corruption and Misgovernance” – Mahama fires back to Akufo Addo
The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s presidential candidate for the 2024 election, John Dramani Mahama, has responded strongly to President Akufo-Addo’s recent plea to Ghanaians not to vote for him in the upcoming December polls, citing concerns over the potential reversal of progress achieved during his tenure.
President Akufo-Addo reiterated his endorsement of Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as the preferred presidential candidate during a mini rally held in Doboro, Eastern region, following his visit to Blue Skies Limited. He expressed confidence in Bawumia’s ability to sustain the developmental momentum initiated by his administration.
In a swift rejoinder on social media, Mr. Mahama dismissed President Akufo-Addo’s assertions, stating his reluctance to perpetuate what he termed as a legacy of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, and economic instability under the current administration.
Highlighting the adverse impacts of President Akufo-Addo’s policies, Mr. Mahama underscored the rise in poverty among Ghanaians, pledging his dedication to enhancing citizens’ welfare and promoting inclusive growth.
“Of course, I will not protect your ‘legacy’ of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket,” Mr Mahama posted.
