Asantehene’s Birthday Gift from God Delivered

At a Thanksgiving Service to celebrate his 74th birthday at the St Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Kumasi, the 16th Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II received an age-long and a descendible gift in the form of a blessing from God.

The gift will reestablish and reposition the Asante Kingdom in perpetual tranquillity and prosperity, according to the Bishop of the Tema Diocese of the Anglican Church, Right Rev Dr George Kotei Neequaye.

While delivering the sermon for the service, the oracle of God posited that His Majesty’s open declaration of the Messiahship of the Lord Jesus Christ throughout his reign, just like Apostle Peter, had won him favour with God and thereby this blessing.

“Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, by organising an inter-denominational service to thank God on the occasion of your Silver Jubilee as Asantehene and your presence here in this church to thank God on the occasion of your 74th birthday, you have declared to the Asante Kingdom and the whole world that Jesus is your Messiah and the foundation and rock of your Kingdom.”

Just as Jesus declared that Peter would be the rock upon which the Church God would be built for his open confession of Christ, Rev Neequaye said God has also declared Otumfuo to be the rock upon which a long-lasting peace and prosperity of the Asante Kingdom would be built.

“God has given you the privilege to be the first Otumfuo through whom the Asante Kingdom will experience peace and prosperity as never before. This is the birthday gift that God is giving you today. Go in the strength of this blessing.”

He further prayed that His Majesty would live long to witness the extraordinary blessing God has bestowed upon the Asante Kingdom.

The service had in attendance the King and his wife, Lady Julia, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, traditional authorities in Asanteman, Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Chief of Staff of the Presidency, Hon Akosua Frema Osei Opare and the Leader of Movement for Change, Hon Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

Also present were former Minister for Agriculture, Hon Afriyie Akoto, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah and many other dignitaries.
