NDC Urges Immediate Arrest of Kingsley Nyarko Over Ejisu By-Election Incident
- Video evidence surfaces implicating Kwadaso MP, Kingsley Nyarko, in a purported bribery attempt during the Ejisu by-election.
- National Democratic Congress demands immediate intervention from law enforcement following the scandal, highlighting concerns over the apparent impunity of a sitting lawmaker.
- NDC emphasizes the importance of equal treatment under the law, advocating for accountability regardless of one's position.
Following footage capturing Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Kingsley Nyarko, allegedly offering money to Electoral Commission officials during the recent Ejisu by-election, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding swift action from law enforcement.
In response to preliminary findings by the Electoral Commission indicating the money was intended for lunch, Deputy General Secretary of NDC, Mustapha Gbande, expressed astonishment at Nyarko’s continued freedom. Gbande emphasized the need for equal application of the law, regardless of one’s status, stressing that even public officials must be held accountable.
Gbande urged the Ghana Police Service to promptly apprehend the implicated lawmaker, underscoring the disparity in punishment between a financially vulnerable electoral officer and an alleged bribe giver in a position of power.
