NCCE inaugurates new governing board

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has officially inaugurated a new governing board tasked with advancing civic responsibility, reinforcing Ghana’s cultural identity, and contributing to national development.

The swearing-in ceremony was held in Accra on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie—who also serves as the board chair—highlighted the importance of visionary leadership in preserving the nation’s cultural heritage.

“Civic education plays a vital role in shaping our national values and consciousness. We must carry out this responsibility with commitment and unity,” she emphasized.

The newly appointed board members include Wakefield Wisdom Ackuaku, Richard Baffour-Awuah, Bridget Mensah, Abena Annobea Asare, Mama Aflo-Vuiede II, Dr. Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, Gladys Boateng, Anna Kportufe, Edinam Korkor Atatsi, Mildred Ashley, Abdul-Samed Yakubu Gomda, and Adiza Baba-Issah.

The board is expected to steer the NCCE in deepening civic education, encouraging social accountability, and supporting Ghana’s democratic governance and development efforts.
