The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has detained Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), following hours of interrogation on Thursday, July 31, 2025, in connection with an ongoing investigation into a revenue assurance audit contract.
Adom News reporter Kodwo Mensah Aboroampa, who was present at the OSP headquarters, reported that Mr. Adom-Otchere was questioned for over three hours before being taken into custody at 6:31 p.m., with his legal team following closely behind.
In an official statement, the OSP confirmed that Mr. Adom-Otchere and two others—Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah (GACL’s Group Executive, Commercial Services) and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea (CEO of Devnest Systems)—have been formally charged. However, Mr. Adom-Otchere remains in custody for failing to meet his bail conditions.
According to the OSP, his bail requires him to provide two landed properties registered in his name, but he has indicated that he does not own any such properties in Ghana, leading to his continued detention.
The investigation forms part of a broader inquiry into alleged corruption and related offenses linked to a contract between GACL and a private company. A letter dated July 25, 2025, identified Mr. Adom-Otchere as a suspect in the case.
Speaking to Citi FM, Mr. Adom-Otchere dismissed the allegations, labeling the investigation as politically driven. “This is a witch-hunt. I had no direct role in the contract’s execution,” he claimed, adding that the agreement was signed by GACL’s Managing Director, Yvonne Opare, without his prior knowledge.
As of now, the OSP has not issued a formal statement confirming his continued detention or outlining the next steps in the case.
