The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has hosted the Black Queens, Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, following their impressive performance at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Queens secured third place at the tournament after defeating South Africa in a penalty shootout, marking their best finish at the competition since 2016.
GFA President Kurt Okraku led the welcoming event alongside Executive Council members Frederick Acheampong, Eugene Noble, and Vice President Mark Addo.
According to Citi Sports, the team is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, later today.
The Black Queens returned from Morocco on Monday, July 28, and have since visited the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum as part of their post-tournament celebrations.
Notably, captain Portia Boakye and midfielder Grace Asantewaa were both named in the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON Team of the Tournament.
