Mixed petroleum price adjustments by OMCs

Story Highlights
  • Shell petrol and diesel prices increased to GH₵12.08 and GH₵13.25 respectively
  • GOIL diesel price up from GH₵12.88 to GH₵13.20 per litre
  • GOIL petrol price down from GH₵12.38 to GH₵12.07 per litre

Some Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have begun adjusting petroleum product prices at the pumps, showing mixed trends.

Petrol prices have slightly dropped, while diesel prices have seen increases.

GOIL is now selling petrol at GH₵12.07 per litre, down from GH₵12.38 on June 9, 2025. Conversely, GOIL’s diesel price has risen to GH₵13.20 per litre from GH₵12.88.

Shell has raised its petrol price to GH₵12.08 per litre from GH₵11.98, and diesel prices have increased from GH₵12.85 (June 16, 2025) to GH₵13.25 per litre.

PETROSOL’s petrol price is GH₵11.98 per litre, while diesel is sold at GH₵13.98 per litre.

These changes end a streak of continuous price declines at the pumps that began in February 2025.

Industry Forecasts

Last week, the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies predicted a petrol price increase of about 2% per litre and a 5% rise for diesel.

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) argues that the price hikes are unjustified and believes prices should have remained steady.

Experts also warn of a sharper price surge expected after July 16, 2025, when OMCs must start applying the Energy Sector Recovery Levy of one cedi per litre, adding an extra GH₵1.93 per litre cost for consumers.
