OSP Arrests 5 In Ongoing SML Corruption Probe

- OSP arrests 5 individuals, including officials from SML and PPA, over suspected corruption
- Kofi Nti, former GRA Commissioner-General, also among those arrested
- Detentions and arrests confirmed via OSP’s official statement on X (formerly Twitter)
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has arrested and subsequently granted bail to five individuals, including two officials from Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) and two from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), as part of ongoing investigations into suspected corruption and related offences.
The individuals arrested are:
- Evans Adusei, CEO of SML
- Philip Mensah, former Deputy Commissioner (Legal) at the GRA and current Legal Consultant to SML
- Kofi Nti, former Commissioner-General of the GRA
- Joseph Kuruk and Faustina Adjorkor, both officials of the PPA
According to the OSP, these arrests are part of a broader inquiry into controversial revenue assurance agreements between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and SML—contracts that have faced intense public scrutiny over alleged procurement irregularities and concerns about their actual value to the state.
Previously, the OSP confirmed the arrest and detention of:
- Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, former Commissioner-General of the GRA
- Isaac Crentsil, former Commissioner of Customs and current General Manager at SML
- Christian Tetteh Sottie, former Technical Advisor at the GRA and current Managing Director of SML
These three individuals were detained on Tuesday night after failing to satisfy bail conditions.
In a public statement issued on X (formerly Twitter), the OSP affirmed that it has arrested several current and former officials of the GRA, SML, and the PPA as part of its probe into suspected corruption and misconduct.
The investigation centers on the legitimacy of contracts awarded to SML, especially regarding procurement procedures and the company’s claims of delivering significant financial returns to the state.
