  • He received a formal query during a live interview at Hitz FM, prompting his resignation
  • Bureau ethics barred officers from engaging in public music activities

Gospel musician Kofi Owusu Peprah has disclosed that he resigned from Ghana’s Bureau of National Investigations (BNI)—now the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB)—due to a conflict between his role there and his passion for music.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Hitz Praise Zone with Nii Noi, the Yesu Nyame Ba singer explained that he made the decision to leave the intelligence agency after receiving a formal query while participating in a live radio interview at the station.

“I’ve been out of the BNI for about four years now. It was actually right here in the studio that I received my query letter. Yes, during the interview. I’ve mentioned this before, but this is the first time I’m being open about the details,” he revealed.

He explained that the Bureau’s code of conduct prohibited officers from publicly engaging in music or similar ventures.

“I was given two options—either resign or completely cut ties with music, which meant taking down all my content from platforms like YouTube. That’s just part of the ethics. I’m sharing this so others know what they’re signing up for if they’re passionate about music while in that line of work,” he added.

Kofi Owusu Peprah, known for gospel hits like Big God, Matwen, and Amen, has since established himself as a key figure in Ghana’s gospel music scene, blending contemporary worship with highlife influences that resonate across generations.

He is currently preparing for a major gospel concert set for August 17, 2025, at Cedar Mountain Chapel in Accra. The event will feature live performances, special guests, and a celebration of his musical journey.
