President John Dramani Mahama will welcome His Majesty King Mswati III, Ingwenyama of the Kingdom of Eswatini, for a four-day state visit to Ghana from Tuesday, June 24 to Saturday, June 28, 2025.
King Mswati III is scheduled to arrive in Accra on Tuesday, where he will be formally received at the Presidency. During his stay, he will engage in bilateral talks with President Mahama and a high-level Ghanaian delegation. The discussions are expected to conclude with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation between Ghana and Eswatini.
As part of his official engagements, King Mswati III will also visit the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in Accra before continuing his visit to Kumasi.
Cultural Diplomacy and Regional Engagement
In Kumasi, His Majesty will be hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. His itinerary in the Ashanti regional capital includes official visits to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), a guided tour of the Manhyia Palace Museum, and an address to the National House of Chiefs.
A grand durbar of chiefs in honour of King Mswati III will take place at the Manhyia Palace, followed by a royal banquet on Friday evening.
On Saturday, the final day of the state visit, King Mswati III will join the Asantehene for a special ceremony at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), after which he will depart Ghana.
This historic visit is expected to enhance diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Eswatini, while also reaffirming the deep cultural and historical connections between the Asante Kingdom and the southern African monarchy.
