President John Dramani Mahama has instructed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to declare their assets by July 15, 2025, in line with the requirements of the 1992 Constitution.

Speaking during an orientation and training session for MMDCEs in Accra on Wednesday, July 18, the President underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.

“I want to remind you that asset declaration is mandatory for officeholders. I expect full compliance from all MMDCEs by July 15,” he stated.

According to Article 286 of the Constitution, public officials are required to declare their assets both before taking office and upon leaving.

Since returning to office in January 2025, President Mahama has made asset declaration a cornerstone of his anti-corruption agenda, emphasizing its role in building public confidence in government institutions.

He affirmed that all his current appointees have already fulfilled this requirement and issued a clear warning: any MMDCE who fails to comply will face disciplinary action.

“Some appointees have already faced consequences for failing to comply,” he noted.
