  • Gas supply to Atuabo resumed on 12 May, at 100 million standard cubic feet/day
  • Temporary suspension occurred due to technical issues over the weekend

Tullow Ghana, the lead operator of the Jubilee Field, has resumed gas exports to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant following the resolution of a technical issue on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah (KNK). In a statement released on Tuesday, the company confirmed that gas exports had been temporarily halted over the weekend due to a gas system trip on the offshore production platform. A technical team was promptly deployed to diagnose and address the root cause.

The company reported that corrective actions have since been implemented, allowing for the safe and efficient restart of operations.

“Gas exports resumed on Monday, 12 May, at a rate of approximately 100 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) to the Atuabo plant, supporting Ghana’s domestic energy supply,” the statement read. The restored gas flow is expected to boost power generation and ease reliance on alternative energy sources.

Tullow Ghana remains a central player in the country’s upstream oil and gas industry, with the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah serving as a key production hub in the Jubilee Field.

The FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading) vessel, named after Ghana’s first president, has been operational since 2010 and is integral to the nation’s oil infrastructure. It is capable of producing 120,000 barrels of oil and 160 million standard cubic feet of gas daily.

Tullow reaffirmed its commitment to safe, reliable operations that contribute to the country’s energy stability.

Earlier in the year, Tullow Ghana and its partners conducted a scheduled 16-day shutdown of the Jubilee Field to upgrade systems, improve efficiency, and minimize operational risks. To mitigate the impact on energy supply during the downtime, the company coordinated with the government to temporarily source gas from the TEN fields.
