Thieves Vandalize School Block in Akyem Oda

Thieves have raided the St. Andrew Anglican Basic School “B” Block in Akyem Oda Old Town, stealing roofing sheets and metal desks—rendering the facility unusable and bringing renovation works to a sudden halt.

Papa Yaw Amoah, Assembly Member for the Aseneye Electoral Area in the Birim Central Municipality (Eastern Region), expressed dismay at the incident, calling it a major blow to efforts aimed at improving learning conditions for pupils.

Speaking to Adom News, Mr. Amoah explained that while the school’s “A” Block had recently been re-roofed by the government after suffering storm damage, focus had shifted to restoring the “B” Block to accommodate more students in a safe and spacious environment.

The theft has now disrupted those plans, leaving the building exposed and unfit for academic use.

Mr. Amoah is appealing to the government, philanthropists, and benevolent organizations to urgently provide support in the form of roofing sheets and basic infrastructure to get the school functioning again.

“If we don’t act quickly, the structure will deteriorate further with exposure to the elements. We must protect what remains and ensure our children have a safe environment to learn,” he urged.
