Djokovic Splits with Coach Andy Murray After Four Tournaments

Story Highlights
  • Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have ended their coaching partnership by mutual consent
  • The split comes ahead of Djokovic's Wimbledon 2025 campaign
  • Djokovic reached the Australian Open semi-finals under Murray but retired due to injury

Novak Djokovic and coach Andy Murray have ended their professional partnership by mutual agreement, just weeks before Djokovic’s bid for an eighth Wimbledon title.

The two tennis greats teamed up in November, with hopes high for the collaboration. Under Murray’s guidance, Djokovic made it to the semi-finals of the Australian Open, but had to retire due to injury after dropping the first set.

Despite the promising start, the partnership only lasted across four tournaments. The 37-year-old Djokovic has struggled this season by his own lofty standards, exiting early in four of his last five events and losing the Miami Open final to 19-year-old Jakub Mensik.

Djokovic expressed gratitude for the time they spent working together:

“Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun, and support over the last six months—on and off the court. I really enjoyed deepening our friendship.”

Murray also shared parting words:

“Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together, and to his team for their efforts. I wish Novak the very best for the rest of the season.”

Djokovic, still chasing form, has accepted a wildcard entry into the Geneva Open next week, hoping to secure his first clay-court win of the season.
