Agradaa Defends Gyamfi Amid Public Ethics Outcry

Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has publicly defended Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, amid growing backlash over a viral video involving the two.

The controversial footage shows Mr. Gyamfi handing what appears to be a bundle of U.S. dollars to Nana Agradaa, prompting widespread criticism, especially from the Minority in Parliament. They have since called for Mr. Gyamfi’s suspension on ethical grounds.

Addressing the controversy during an Instagram Live session, Nana Agradaa—once a fetish priestess, now a self-proclaimed evangelist—expressed strong concern about the possible consequences for Mr. Gyamfi’s career.

Holding up a Bible and anointing oil, she declared, “I will burn down my church if Sammy Gyamfi loses his job because of me. The Bible tells us to do good to everyone. If he gave me money, it was his choice and within his right.”

In the wake of the uproar, Mr. Gyamfi reportedly met with the Chief of Staff on May 12, after being summoned to the Presidency. While the details of the meeting remain private, it is believed to have been held to address public concerns surrounding the incident.

The Chief of Staff is expected to brief President John Dramani Mahama, who is currently in Lomé, Togo, attending the African Union Debt Conference.
