Ghanaian comic actor Koo Fori, whose real name is Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has pleaded not guilty to allegations of defrauding a Ghanaian residing in the United States of $50,000. He appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12, following his arrest by the Accra Central Police Command on Friday, May 9. He faces a charge of defrauding under false pretences and was granted bail set at ₵320,000, with three sureties.
Police reports indicate that the “Efiewura” TV series actor allegedly obtained the funds from a victim based in California, claiming it was for a legitimate investment opportunity. However, he is said to have failed to honor the agreement and subsequently went into hiding.
The unidentified victim reported the matter to authorities after repeated unsuccessful attempts to recover the money.
Further investigations revealed that Koo Fori not only failed to repay the amount but also disregarded a court summons for a scheduled appearance at the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025. His absence led to the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.
