KiDi Addresses Online Trolls and Triumph at 26th TGMA

Story Highlights
  • KiDi says online hate often reflects the trolls’ personal struggles
  • Emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance and not trying to please everyone
  • Uses daily affirmations to maintain emotional well-being

Afropop sensation and award-winning artist KiDi has candidly addressed the emotional impact of online criticism, labeling internet trolls as “sad individuals” who often project their inner struggles onto others.

Speaking on the Talk No Dey Cook Rice podcast with host Derick Elorm Ashilevi, the Lomo Lomo hitmaker reflected on how he copes with negativity in the public eye, noting that much of the backlash he receives stems from the personal frustrations of others.

“Life got easier when I realized I can’t please everyone,” KiDi said. “Even if I give someone a million, they’ll ask why it wasn’t two. Some people are simply unhappy and they direct that energy at others.”

He described how some social media users lash out not because of him, but due to personal pain. “Someone might not have eaten, and when I post ‘Stream my music,’ they respond with insults. It’s not about me—it’s about what they’re going through.”

KiDi emphasized that his approach to handling fame includes using daily affirmations to maintain self-confidence and emotional balance.

He also opened up about fatherhood under public scrutiny, the inspiration behind his music, and lesser-known experiences during his time at Lynx Entertainment.

The singer recently took home the Best Collaboration of the Year award at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards for Lomo Lomo, his collaboration with Black Sherif.
