The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) is set to launch the 2025 edition of the Global Action Week for Education (GAWE) this Wednesday in Bodada, located in the Oti Region.
Themed “Education in Emergencies: Leave No Learner Behind,” the event will bring together key stakeholders from the education sector to spotlight the critical need to protect and sustain learning during times of crisis. The focus will be on ensuring that all children, regardless of circumstance, have uninterrupted access to quality education.
Notable figures expected to attend include Hon. Parke-Davis, Mrs. Sophia Ako, Hon. Kofi Adams, and Hon. John Kwadwo Gyapong. The event will be chaired by Mrs. Jacqlinda Attabra, the Oti Regional Director of Education.
GNECC is spearheading this initiative to address the growing challenges emergencies—such as conflict, displacement, pandemics, and climate-related events—pose to education in Ghana. The campaign aims to promote resilience, equity, and sustainable solutions to ensure that no child is excluded from learning opportunities.
“Education is a right, not a privilege. During crises, it becomes the foundation of hope and opportunity,” a GNECC representative remarked.
The launch in Bodada will kick off a week of nationwide events, discussions, and community-level activities focused on building Ghana’s capacity to deliver education during emergencies.
