The Assembly Member for Amasaman, Love Alister, has appealed to Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, to honour her commitment to repair and install streetlights in the community.
His appeal came after the confirmation of John Desmond Sowah Nai as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga West Municipal Assembly, a nominee of President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking to the media after the confirmation ceremony, Alister stated,
“We gave the President’s nominee a unanimous endorsement. Now, we expect the Regional Minister to remind President Mahama of the need for visible development in our area. Functional streetlights are crucial for the safety and growth of our community.”
He also advised the new MCE to exercise sound leadership, cautioning him to steer clear of flattery, gossip, and disrespect.
“I urge the MCE to avoid praise singers and gossipers, and above all, to treat everyone with respect,” he said.
All 25 Assembly Members present voted in favour of the nominee, signaling full support.
In her response, Regional Minister Ocloo thanked the Assembly Members for their unanimous vote and reassured the community that the streetlight installations would be carried out soon.
The confirmation event, held at the Ga West Municipal Assembly, underscored local leaders’ ongoing push for essential infrastructure and development initiatives.
