Former Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong, has called on the government to ensure fairness and transparency in rolling out the newly launched One Million Coders Programme.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on April 17, he welcomed the initiative’s potential but emphasized that its success depends on unbiased and merit-based implementation.
“We just hope jobs go to the youth fairly and squarely, without any form of bias. We’ll be watching closely,” he stated.
The One Million Coders Programme, launched on April 16, aims to train a million young Ghanaians in digital and coding skills. So far, over 91,000 applications have been received, according to Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George. The launch event brought together key stakeholders from the tech industry, academia, and civil society, marking a major step toward building a digitally skilled workforce.
