Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has issued a strong caution to leaders of health training institutions, urging them to refrain from any attempts to intimidate or unduly influence him as he fulfills his responsibilities.

Speaking at a stakeholder engagement with the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI) on April 16, 2025, Mr. Akandoh emphasized the need for dialogue, mutual respect, and professionalism in addressing challenges within the health training sector.

He stressed that while his office is open to constructive conversations, any actions aimed at creating tension or pressuring the Ministry into decisions would not be accepted.

“If you wish to engage with me or any part of the Ministry, our doors are open. But do not cause disruptions before seeking dialogue. Whenever you meet with me in the office, our discussions remain private,” the Minister said.

Mr. Akandoh also expressed concern over the increasing tendency of some institutional heads to publicly escalate issues or incite student protests without first engaging the Ministry through proper channels.

“To those who feel compelled to incite students rather than follow up on Ministry decisions through the right processes, I want to be clear — I will not be intimidated,” he stated firmly.

Reaffirming his dedication to transparent and cooperative leadership, the Health Minister warned that any deliberate efforts to undermine the Ministry’s authority would be firmly opposed.

He called on COHHETI members to engage in open, respectful dialogue and to utilize the appropriate administrative processes to maintain stability and effectiveness in the health training sector.
